★ This canvas is manufactured by John & Mary Worthing (Canvas USA) to authentic WWII specifications. The mil-spec cotton canvas comes from the 72" wide weave width without centre seam, which prevents leakage and significantly extends the service life of the tarpaulin.
Application
Suitable for Willys MBT (WWII), Bantam T-3 (WWII) and M100 (post-war) 1/4 ton jeep trailers. Dimensions are matched to the standard cargo box of 72" x 46" (MBT/T-3) and 72" x 41" (M416). Fits trailers with standard attachment loops — military version has 4 loops per long side.
Installation notes
Attach the tarpaulin with the supplied ropes to the attachment loops on the trailer. For optimal water drainage it is recommended to place bows beneath the tarpaulin to prevent water accumulation. The ropes are cut to length and heat-sealed at the ends.
Compatibility
NOTE: The M416 trailer has a narrower cargo box (72" x 41") than the MBT/T-3/M100 (72" x 46"). Civilian Bantam T3-C trailers have only 3 attachment loops per side instead of 4. This tarpaulin is primarily for Willys MBT, Bantam T-3 and M100 trailers.
Historical context
The 1/4 ton jeep trailer was designed to be towed behind the Willys MB/Ford GPW with a load capacity of 500 lbs off-road. The trailers could even float when fully loaded and were deployed behind amphibious vehicles such as the Ford GPA.
