⚠ Important

  • Only use in cold weather — not in warm or hot weather
  • Serious engine overheating may occur when used in warm conditions
  • Check that the right shield maintains sufficient clearance from the exhaust pipe

Application

Harley-Davidson WLA (US Army) and WLC (Canadian Army) military motorcycles from WWII. Also fits civilian W-models 1937-1952 and Servi-Car models 1937-1965.

Installation notes

Curved bracket is fixed to the front frame tube, lower section bolts to the footboard. Metal clip hooks behind the crash bars. The right shield has an additional protection plate to avoid contact with the front exhaust pipe.

Compatibility

Suitable for all WLA and WLC variants. Note: leg shields were packed as standard in the wooden shipping crate but were often not fitted, as they were only intended for use in cold weather.

Historical context

Leg shields were standard equipment on military Harley-Davidson WLA and WLC motorcycles during WWII. In July 1943, the Canadian MT User Committee advised removing leg shields, after which production was discontinued at the end of July 1943.
