Installation notes
Bracket is welded to the chassis at both mounting tabs that enclose the frame rail. Ensure correct positioning: 2 inches (approx. 5 cm) from front of gearbox cross member bracket to centre of bracket tube. Bracket positions against the underside of the frame. After welding: lubricate via grease nipple for optimal operation of the brass bushings.
Compatibility
Early type (A493) is specific for use with pedal shaft A492 - this is the early shaft with split pin hole on the clutch side. Not compatible with later pedal shafts (A495, A497) which require a different bracket. Check which pedal shaft type your vehicle has before ordering.
Historical context
This component was originally welded to the chassis during production. Through years of stress and possible rust formation, the brass bushings can wear or the bracket itself may be damaged, causing play in the pedals.
