Always compare with your existing handbrake system for compatibility.
Compatibility
ONLY for Willys MB with internal expanding brake from September '44. NOT compatible with: early MB/GPW with external contracting brake (use A-1253), very late MB 1945 with additional hole for transfer case rubber mount (late A-8858 variant), or Ford GPW (no corresponding GPW version in SNL G-503 Ord 9).
Historical context
The A-8858 skid plate was introduced during the transition from the external contracting brake to the internal expanding brake on the Willys MB in September 1944. This change required an adapted cutout in the skid plate to provide clearance for the larger handbrake system on the transfer case.
