Grease gun bracket lever type

For mounting under bonnet

Steel mounting bracket for securely fastening a lever-type grease gun under the bonnet on the driver's side. This bracket was introduced from mid-1944 onwards to mount the larger lever-action grease guns, which offered greater capacity and higher pressure than the earlier push-type variants stored in the toolbox.

Material

Steel

Application

Grease gun mounting under bonnet

Mounting

Driver's side, inside bonnet

Type

Late-war version (from 1944)

Features

  • Steel construction for durable mounting
  • Fitted with hinged clamping arm with locking mechanism
  • Four mounting holes for bonnet installation
  • Designed for Alemite/Lincoln lever-type grease guns
  • Characteristic shape, often confused with fire extinguisher bracket

★ Replica manufactured to original specifications. Suitable for correct restoration of late production vehicles.

Application

Suitable for Willys MB and Ford GPW from May/June 1944 onwards, as well as Hotchkiss M201 and M38. The bonnet must be fitted on the inside with two welded reinforcement plates to support the mounting screws.

Installation notes

The bracket is mounted on the inside of the bonnet on the driver's side, using four screws (10-32 NF x 7/16" pan head with lock washers and nuts). Note: the bonnet must be fitted with two welded reinforcement plates on the inside for correct mounting. The hinged clamping arm is secured with a 1/8" pin and locks with a push-button system similar to the first aid kit bracket.

Compatibility

Only suitable for lever-type grease guns (Alemite Model 6593, Lincoln and similar models). NOT suitable for the smaller push-type grease guns supplied with early production vehicles (until spring 1944) and stored in the toolbox. Early slat-grille jeeps and script Ford GPWs did not have this bracket — they were supplied with push-type grease guns.

Historical context

From March/April 1944, the army switched from small push-type grease guns (stored in the toolbox) to larger lever-type grease guns with greater capacity and pressure. These were mounted in a special bracket under the bonnet, which provided cleaner tool storage space but also presented the risk of grease leaking due to engine heat.
