SECTION ANTENNA MS-51 RED/YELLOW US
Antenna section MS-51 red/yellow US
WWII Signal Corps mast component
Original US Signal Corps antenna section MS-51, recognisable by the red and yellow colour markings at both ends. This telescopic mast section was used during WWII on military vehicles equipped with FM radio sets such as the SCR-510, SCR-610 and SCR-608.

★ The red/yellow colour coding identifies the MS-51 section and indicates the correct position in the antenna assembly. Essential component for authentic Signal Corps radio installations.
Application
The MS-51 section was used in FM radio installations on jeeps, half-tracks and tanks. With VHF sets (SCR-510, SCR-610, SCR-608), MS-53, MS-52 and MS-51 were typically used — sometimes only MS-53 and MS-51. With HF sets, all five sections (MS-49 through MS-53) were deployed. The colour coding assists correct assembly: blue (MS-53), red (MS-52/MS-51), yellow (MS-51 top).
Installation notes
The MS-51 section screws with the red end into the MS-52 section. The yellow end often forms the top of the antenna in shorter FM installations. Use clamp MC-423 (red) to secure the connection between MS-52 and MS-51 against vibration loosening during driving. The sections were mounted in antenna base MP-48 or MP-48-A.
Compatibility
The MS-51 section does NOT fit directly into the MP-48 antenna base — this requires MS-53 or MS-54 as the first section. MS-51 is used as the second or third section in the stack. Note: HF radio sets used MS-49 through MS-53 (5 sections), whilst FM sets only used MS-53, MS-52 and MS-51 (3 sections) or MS-53 and MS-51 (2 sections). MS-50 and MS-49 were NOT used with FM installations.
Historical context
The MS-series mast sections formed the standard US Signal Corps antenna system during WWII. The colour coding was introduced to prevent assembly errors and enable rapid identification in the field.
