Timing chain cover oil seal

For engines with chain-driven camshaft

High-quality oil seal for the front timing chain cover of the Willys L-134 'Go Devil' engine. This seal seals the crankshaft passage where the front pulley is mounted and prevents oil leakage at the front of the engine.

Material

Neoprene rubber with metal housing

Function

Crankshaft seal at timing chain cover

Engine type

L-134 with chain-driven camshaft

OEM reference

WO-637098 / GPW6700

Features

  • High-quality neoprene rubber construction
  • Metal housing for durable fit
  • Prevents oil leakage at front of engine
  • Direct replacement for original part
  • Suitable for L-134 engine with chain drive

★ Quality seal with durable neoprene rubber resistant to engine oil and high temperatures.

Application

This oil seal fits Willys L-134 'Go Devil' engines with chain-driven camshaft as used in early Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Hotchkiss M201, and early CJ-2A models (1946-early 1947) before the change to gear drive.

Installation notes

Installation is done from the inside into the timing chain cover. First remove the crankshaft pulley and old seal carefully without damaging the cover. Press the new seal in with the lip facing inward. Check before installation that the crankshaft has no sharp edges or grooves that could damage the new seal.

Compatibility

NOTE: This seal is ONLY suitable for engines with chain-driven camshaft. Later CJ-2A (from late 1947), CJ-3A, CJ-3B, M38 and M38A1 have a gear-driven camshaft and use a different timing chain cover with different seal specifications. Check before ordering whether your engine has chain or gear drive.

Historical context

The early L-134 'Go Devil' engines in WWII-production Willys MB and Ford GPW used chain drive for the camshaft. After the war, Willys gradually switched to the more reliable gear drive, making this seal specific to early production vehicles and restorations.
