21-1/2 inches (approx. 55 cm)

Application

L-134 engine with chain-driven camshaft

Type

Supply line (inlet)

Features

  • Flexible construction with machined fittings on both sides
  • Black lacquer finish as original
  • Swivel connections at both ends for easy installation
  • Suitable for military C-3 oil filter housing
  • Original part number: WOA1197 / A-1197

★ High-quality reproduction of the original oil line, manufactured to original specifications for optimal fit and function.

Application

This long oil line (inlet) is suitable for WWII military jeeps with L-134 'Go Devil' engine fitted with chain-driven camshaft. Fits Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945) and Hotchkiss M201. Also suitable for early civilian models with the same engine system and bypass oil filter. Always used in combination with the shorter outlet line.

Installation notes

The line runs from the oil gallery at the front of the engine to the inlet (top) of the oil filter housing. Note the correct adapter fittings: 1/8" pipe thread on filter side to 1/4" inverted flare. The swivel connections at both ends facilitate installation behind the cooling fan. Check all connections for leaks after installation and run the engine briefly to fill the system.

Compatibility

ONLY suitable for L-134 engines with chain-driven camshaft (MB, GPW, M201, early CJ-2A). NOT suitable for later engines with gear-driven camshaft (late CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B, M38) – these have a different oil filter system. Always check the camshaft drive type of your engine before ordering. This long line (A-1197) is used for supply; the shorter line (A-1198, approx. 10-1/2") for return to oil pressure gauge.

Historical context

The L-134 'Go Devil' engine was produced during WWII with a bypass oil filter system, whereby filtered oil circulated via flexible lines through the military C-3 oil filter. This system significantly increased engine life under severe military conditions.
