Oil Pump Repair Kit (Chain Drive)

For L-134 engines with chain timing

Complete repair kit for the oil pump of early L-134 Go Devil engines with chain-driven camshaft. This kit contains all necessary components to overhaul the oil pump of your military jeep and restore it to optimal working condition.

Application

L-134 engines with chain timing

Engine type

Chain-driven camshaft

Vehicle

Willys MB, Ford GPW, M201, early CJ-2A

Part type

Oil pump overhaul kit

Features

  • For chain-driven L-134 Go Devil engines
  • Contains all overhaul components for the oil pump
  • Suitable for engines with chain-driven camshaft
  • Designed to military specifications
  • Essential for maintaining correct oil pressure

★ This repair kit is specifically developed for the early L-134 engines with chain drive — a crucial difference compared to the later gear-driven versions.

Application

This kit is exclusively suitable for vehicles with the early L-134 engine with chain-driven camshaft: Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Hotchkiss M201, and early production CJ-2A (1946) before Willys switched to gear drive. Please note: this kit does NOT fit later CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B, M38 or M38A1 with gear-driven engines.

Installation notes

Before ordering, verify that your engine actually has a chain drive by removing the timing cover. The chain-driven oil pump is not interchangeable with the later gear-driven version. During installation: ensure that the notch at the end of the oil pump engages correctly with the tooth on the distributor shaft.

Compatibility

ONLY for chain-driven L-134 engines. NOT compatible with: gear-driven L-134 engines (late CJ-2A from approx. 1947), F-134 Hurricane engines, M38 (1950-1952), M38A1, CJ-3A, CJ-3B, or later CJ-5/CJ-6. The type of drive (chain vs. gear) is decisive — not the vehicle model.

Historical context

The L-134 Go Devil engine with chain drive was used during WWII in all Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps, as well as in early post-war production. From 1947, Willys switched to gear drive for improved reliability and ease of maintenance.
