Type Flat top (flat piston crown) |
Set contents 4 pistons with pins and circlips |
Features
- 030" oversize for rebored cylinders
- Flat piston crown for standard 6.5:1 compression ratio
- Complete with piston pins and circlips
- Suitable for L-134 and F-134 four-cylinder engines
- Manufactured to original specifications
★ These oversize pistons are essential for an engine rebuild where cylinders are rebored and refinished. 030" size is the first standard oversize and most commonly used in regular engine restorations.
Application
Suitable for L-134 Go Devil engine (Willys MB, Ford GPW, M201, CJ-2A, CJ-3A, M38) and F-134 Hurricane engine (CJ-3B, CJ-5, CJ-6, M38A1). Application: 1941-1971. The L-134 was the original WWII engine, the F-134 is the post-war F-head version with higher compression.
Installation notes
Installation only by qualified engine machinist. Cylinders must first be measured for wear, after which boring and honing are carried out with the actual pistons to hand to achieve the correct piston-to-cylinder wall clearance. Always measure piston resistance according to specification. Oversize.040" and.060" are also available for heavily worn cylinders.
Compatibility
NOTE: oversize pistons fit ONLY in cylinders that have been professionally rebored to the correct oversize dimension. Standard size (.000") pistons do NOT fit in oversize cylinders. In cases of severe wear, boring to.040" or.060" may be required — check cylinder condition first. Both L-134 (flathead) and F-134 (F-head) engines use identical pistons with the same 3.125" bore size.
Historical context
The L-134 'Go Devil' engine was the most powerful engine during the evaluation of WWII jeep prototypes in 1940 and was used in nearly all Allied jeeps during WWII. This robust engine remained in production until 1971, first as the flathead L-134 and later as the F-head F-134.
