★ High-quality cylinder sleeve for complete engine restoration. Enables salvaging an engine block that has already been bored through oversized boring and press-fitted sleeve. Essential for thorough engine overhaul.

Application

For jeeps fitted with L-134 (4-134) flathead engine where the engine block has previously been bored to +0.010" or +0.020" and is worn again. By boring the engine block 0.100" oversize, this sleeve can be press-fitted, after which the inside is finished to standard bore (3.125" / 79.4 mm). Use in combination with standard pistons and piston rings.

Installation notes

Fitting exclusively by professional engine specialist. The engine block must first be bored to exact oversize. Sleeve requires interference fit of approximately 0.0015" to 0.002" and must be fitted using press tooling or hydraulic press. Freezing the sleeve before fitting is recommended. After press fitting, the inside must be bored with torque plate to final size (3.125" / 79.4 mm) and honed according to specifications. Check cylindrical form and straightness after fitting.

Compatibility

IMPORTANT: This sleeve is ONLY suitable for engine blocks that have previously been bored to oversize and are worn or damaged again. Suitable for both chain-driven (early MB/GPW) and gear-driven (late CJ) variants of the L-134 engine. NOT suitable for F-134 overhead valve engine. Combine with standard (STD) pistons – NOT with oversize pistons.

Historical context

The L-134 "Go Devil" engine, developed by chief engineer Delmar "Barney" Roos, became the standard powerplant for all WWII jeeps and early civilian models. Cylinder sleeves were essential tooling for field maintenance and remain today the only option to salvage severely worn engine blocks for authentic restorations.
