• 1950-1953 Willys Pickup Truck
• 1950-1953 Station Wagon
• 1950-1951 VJ Jeepster
• 1957-1964 FC-150

IMPORTANT: These inlet valve lifters are NOT suitable for the 4-134 L-head (Go Devil) engine or for exhaust valves of the F-head.

Installation notes

Installation requires removal of upper valve cover. Inlet valves are located in the cylinder head and operated via pushrods and rocker arms. Recommended valve clearance for inlet: 0.018" (approx. 46mm) – set cold. Use flat feeler gauge. Always recheck valve clearance after first start. 4 lifters required for complete engine.

Compatibility

IMPORTANT – F-head vs L-head difference:
The F-134 engine has DIFFERENT valve lifters for inlet and exhaust. Inlet valves are in the cylinder head (overhead), exhaust valves in the block (flathead-style). This article concerns INLET only.

On the older 4-134 L-head (Go Devil, 1941-1953 MB/GPW/CJ-2A/CJ-3A/M38), all valve lifters were identical. On the F-head they are NOT – check which lifter you require.

Historical context

The Willys F-134 Hurricane was introduced in 1950 as successor to the Go Devil flathead. By relocating the inlet valves to the cylinder head (F-head or IOE configuration), power increased from 60 to 75 bhp. This hybrid design – inlet overhead, exhaust in block – made the F-134 America's most powerful four-cylinder at launch and remained in production until 1971.
