Application
Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Hotchkiss M201, Willys M38 (1950-1952), Willys M38-A1 (1952-1963), Jeep CJ-2A (1945-1949), Jeep CJ-3A (1948-1953), Jeep CJ-3B (1953-1968), early CJ-5 (1955-1971) and M170 — all vehicles fitted with the Willys 134ci four-cylinder engine (L-head or F-head variant).
Installation notes
When fitting, install gasket dry or with a thin layer of gasket sealant. For easier installation: rotate crankshaft so fuel pump eccentric is at its lowest point. Use two new gaskets with spacer between them (one gasket-spacer-gasket). Tighten bolts evenly in a cross pattern. Note: some models (such as M38) use special bolts with extended hex for easier removal.
Compatibility
This gasket fits ALL Willys 134ci engines, both the L-head 'Go Devil' (MB/GPW/early CJ-2A/M38) and the later F-head variant (late CJ-2A/CJ-3A/CJ-3B/M38-A1). No difference between early chain-driven or late gear-driven timing — this gasket is identical for both. Fits pumps both with and without integrated vacuum pump for windscreen wipers.
Historical context
The mechanical fuel pump was a crucial component of the Willys 'Go Devil' fuel system, driven by an eccentric on the camshaft. This simple yet reliable system served from the first Willys MA prototypes in 1941 well into the 1960s on civilian CJ models.
