Features
- Rubber seal for accelerator pedal rod
- Slides over pedal rod on interior side of floor plate
- Prevents draughts and dirt ingress
- Specific to Slat Grille variant
- Original type as fitted before rubber rationing in 1942
★ Correct rubber variant for early Willys MB Slat Grille jeeps, as originally fitted before rubber became scarce and was replaced by leather or felt seals.
Application
Willys MB Slat Grille, serial numbers MB100001 through MB125809 (November 1941 - March 1942). Early MB jeeps used rubber seals; from September 1942 onwards, rubber rationing necessitated the use of leather or felt seals. Also suitable for later MB and Ford GPW if rubber variant is preferred.
Installation notes
The rubber grommet slides over the accelerator pedal rod on the interior side of the floor plate (firewall side). Installation: insert pedal rod through floor hole, slide rubber grommet over rod until it seats against the floor plate. Check freedom of movement of the pedal rod — the grommet must not bind.
Compatibility
Specific to Willys MB Slat Grille with rubber seals. Note: early MB/GPW used rubber, from mid-1942 this became leather or felt due to material shortages during the war. This is not the complete draft seal kit (with spring and ring) for clutch/brake pedals — this is only the rubber seal for the accelerator pedal rod.
Historical context
The Willys MB Slat Grille was the very first production variant of the standardised military jeep, built from November 1941 to March 1942 — only 25,808 units. Due to the Japanese occupation of Burma in 1942, a severe rubber shortage occurred, forcing the replacement of rubber components such as shifter boots and seals with leather, felt or impregnated textile from September 1942 onwards.
