Specific to early Ford GPW jeeps with oil bath air filter. This bracket is the left one of the pair of mounting brackets (viewed from the driver's seat, this is the bracket closest to the driver). Fits early GPW versions with the AC 'pancake' air filter or the early Oakes oil bath air filter systems.
Installation notes
Mounting is done on the firewall with 5/16-24 UNF bolts, lock washers and flat washers. Early bodies (until February 1943) use hex nuts on the rear of the firewall; later versions have pressed cage nuts in the firewall. The right bracket (GPW-A1278) is available separately.
Compatibility
This early bracket with script F marking is specific to the Ford GPW. Willys MB used its own brackets without F marking. Note the difference between early and late GPW brackets — early brackets such as GPW965E differ in design from the later brackets (part number 640948). Not compatible with the later CJ-2A or CJ-3A air filter systems.
