★ Reproduction to original specifications. Always fit new gaskets between carburettor and flange during installation to ensure an airtight seal.

Application

This carburettor flange fits all vehicles equipped with the Carter WO carburettor and L-134 engine. Carter WO carburettors were fitted to WWII Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Willys CJ-2A (1945-1949) and Willys CJ-3A (1949-1953). Note: the CJ-3B and M38 had a different carburettor type.

Installation notes

During installation, check the condition of the gaskets between carburettor and flange and replace if necessary. Tighten the carburettor flange evenly with spring clip and nuts to prevent distortion. After installation, check for vacuum leaks which may cause irregular idle. Mounting is carried out with 3/8" UNF nuts.

Compatibility

Exclusively for Carter WO carburettor (model number 539S and variants). Not compatible with the later Carter YF/YS carburettors of the CJ-3B and M38A1, or with the Carter BB carburettors of Dodge WC vehicles. Note the correct bolt hole spacing of 60 mm.

Historical context

The Carter WO was the standard carburettor on WWII jeeps and early civilian CJ models. Carter Carburetor Company, founded in 1909 by Will Carter, was known for high-quality engineering and became an important supplier for American military vehicles during WWII.
