Throttle connector rod carburettor

Connecting rod for accelerator pump

Connecting rod between throttle valve and accelerator pump for Carter WO carburettor. This rod ensures correct control of the accelerator pump when opening the throttle. Essential component for smooth acceleration without flat spot or hesitation.

Material

Steel

Type

Throttle connector rod

Application

Carter WO carburettor

Function

Accelerator pump control

Features

  • Connecting rod for accelerator pump mechanism
  • Bendable for precise pump stroke adjustment
  • Component of Carter carburettor linkage
  • Critical for correct fuel delivery during acceleration
  • Prevents hesitation and stumble when opening throttle

★ Replacement part for worn or incorrectly adjusted throttle connector rod. Correct adjustment of this rod is essential for optimal accelerator pump operation.

Installation notes

The pump stroke must ALWAYS be adjusted before the metering rod. Fit the rod with throttle valve fully closed (idle stop screw backed off). Adjustment is made by bending the rod until pump stroke measures 17/64" (±6.7mm). Worn linkage causes late fuel delivery and hesitation.

Compatibility

Suitable for Carter WO carburettor (including types 539S, 596S, 636S, 698S). Note: original WWII 539S uses a special throttle connector rod (Carter 115-59) with spring and keeper for attachment to throttle arm. Later types use a different attachment method.

Historical context

The Carter WO was the standard carburettor on the Willys L-134 'Go Devil' engine during WWII and until the early 1950s. The throttle connector rod is a critical component that often requires replacement or readjustment during rebuilds.
