Application
Ford GPW: all production years (1942-1945). Willys MB: early production until mid-1942 (up to approximately MB #124,308). From mid-1942 onwards, Willys switched to a plastic knob with engraved marking.
Installation notes
The outer casing is fitted unpainted — zinc-plated or cadmium-plated but not painted. Knob is painted in OD with white marking. Check cable length for your specific application and shorten if necessary.
Compatibility
IMPORTANT: This is the early version with metal knob. Late Willys MB (after mid-1942) used a plastic knob. Ford GPW retained the metal knob throughout production. Not interchangeable with late plastic version without modification.
Historical context
The steel choke and throttle knobs with stamped white marking were characteristic of early WWII jeeps. Ford retained these metal knobs throughout wartime production, whilst Willys switched to plastic knobs from mid-1942 onwards.
