★ Accurate reproduction of the late choke knob version, as fitted from the late 1940s on civilian CJ models and post-war military jeeps.
Application
Fits Willys MB (late), Ford GPW (late), Hotchkiss M201, CJ-2A (1945-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), CJ-3B (1953-1964) and M38 (1950-1952). This late version differs from the early version by the black plastic knob instead of the Olive Drab metal knob.
Installation notes
The cable is routed from the dashboard through the housing to the carburettor. Fix the knob to the dashboard with the supplied hardware. The cable can be shortened to length if required. Ensure the cable runs smoothly without sharp bends.
Compatibility
This is the LATE version with black knob. Early WWII MB/GPW models had an Olive Drab metal knob with raised letters (early version). This late version is correct for post-war CJ models and late production military jeeps. Not compatible with modern jeeps fitted with automatic choke.
Historical context
During WWII, MB and GPW jeeps had a metal Olive Drab choke knob. After the war, Willys switched to black plastic knobs with white lettering for the civilian CJ series, a specification used into the 1960s.
