Fuel Pump Bowl Gasket

For Willys MB, Ford GPW and CJ-series

Replacement gasket for the glass sediment bowl of the mechanical fuel pump on Willys MB, Ford GPW and civilian CJ models with 134 ci L-head or F-head engine. This cork gasket ensures a reliable seal between the bowl cover and pump housing.

Material

Cork

Application

Fuel pump sediment bowl

Engine

134 ci L-head & F-head

Compatibility

Single-action fuel pumps

Features

  • Cork gasket for optimal sealing
  • Fits original AC-type fuel pumps with glass bowl
  • For both L-head (flathead) and F-head engines
  • Easy to replace maintenance component
  • Prevents fuel leakage at sediment bowl

★ Essential sealing component for the mechanical fuel pump with glass sediment bowl. Cork provides optimal resilience and fuel resistance.

Application

Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Willys CJ-2A (1945-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), CJ-3B (1953-1964), M38 (1950-1952), M38A1 (1952-1971), CJ-5/CJ-6 (1955-1971), Station Wagon (1946-1953), Pickup Truck (1947-1953) and Jeepster (1948-1951) with 4-134 ci engine. Fits single-action mechanical fuel pumps with glass sediment bowl (without vacuum port for windscreen wipers).

Installation notes

Clean the sealing surfaces thoroughly before fitting. When replacing, also check the glass sediment bowl for cracks. Tighten the bail by hand – not too tight to prevent cracking the glass. Check for leaks with the engine running after fitting.

Compatibility

This gasket is for single-action fuel pumps with glass sediment bowl. Does NOT fit dual-action pumps (with vacuum port for windscreen wipers). CJ-3A, CJV-35/U and M38 often use dual-action pumps with spacer – check your pump type. If in doubt: check whether your pump has a glass bowl at the bottom with bail closure.

Historical context

The mechanical fuel pump with glass sediment bowl was standard on WWII Jeeps and early civilian models. The glass bowl served as a visible filter to observe dirt and water in the fuel – crucial in field conditions where fuel quality was variable.
