★ Complete mounting kit according to original specifications for correct fitting of fuel pumps on 4-134 engines. Essential for a professional restoration or repair.
Application
Suitable for mounting mechanical fuel pumps (with 2 valves: inlet and outlet check valve) on Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), CJ-2A (1945-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), M38 (1950-1952), CJ-3B (1953-1964) and other vehicles equipped with the 4-134 L-head (Go Devil) or F-head engine. Note: military M38/M38A1 variants sometimes use a spacer between pump and block.
Installation notes
Fuel pump is mounted to the front of the engine block, left-hand side (driver's side). Check during fitting that the pump arm rests correctly on the eccentric cam of the camshaft. For some applications (M38, CJ-3A, CJ-V35/U), a spacer is required between pump and block — use two gaskets in this case (one before and one after the spacer). Ensure the pump is securely mounted to prevent vibrations. Correct pressure: 3-4.75 PSI at 1800 rpm.
Compatibility
Note: civilian CJ fuel pumps and military M38/M38A1 pumps may require different spacer dimensions. M38/M38A1 often uses a thicker spacer (approx. 1/8") requiring longer specialty bolts. Standard bolts are suitable for most MB/GPW/CJ-2A/CJ-3A applications without spacer or with thin spacer. Check that your pump type and spacer configuration match this bolt kit.
Historical context
The mechanical fuel pump was fitted as standard on all Willys MB and Ford GPW WWII Jeeps, driven by an eccentric cam on the camshaft. This reliable system delivered 3-4 PSI fuel pressure for the Carter WO carburettor.
