Headlight Bracket Left

Hinged mounting from wing to headlight bucket

Reproduction of the S-shaped hinge bracket for the left headlight. This bracket connects the headlight bucket to the front wing and allows the headlight to fold upwards to illuminate the engine. Essential component when restoring front wings or replacing damaged originals.

Material

Steel

Position

Left (driver's side)

Vehicle

Willys MB, Ford GPW

OE Reference

A-2971

Features

  • S-shaped hinge construction
  • Pressed steel with correct bends
  • Mounts under grille flange
  • Allows headlight to fold 90° upwards
  • Left/right specific component

★ Accurate reproduction of the original headlight bracket for WWII jeeps. These brackets are often seized, cracked or completely missing after decades of service.

Application

Willys MB 1941-1945, Ford GPW 1941-1945. Also fits Hotchkiss M201. Note: this is the left bracket (driver's side). For the right side, a mirror-image variant is required (A-2970).

Installation notes

Fitted with two tapered head bolts (with nut above) under the upper flange of the grille. Ford GPW variant was factory-fitted from below (nuts above); Willys MB from above. The bracket must hinge without making contact with the bonnet. When correctly fitted, the headlight folds at least 85-90 degrees upwards.

Compatibility

Specific to left side. Not interchangeable with right bracket. Note difference in original Ford/Willys fitting method: Ford welded the hinge to the underside of the bracket, Willys used a different configuration. Reproduction brackets generally fit both makes. Not compatible with later CJ models without modification.

Historical context

The folding headlight brackets were a practical feature of the WWII jeep and allowed mechanics to work in poor light without separate work lights. Through intensive use and corrosion, original brackets are often weakened or broken.
