★ Manufactured to original Ford GPW drawings from December 1941. Originally, these bumperettes were heat-treated for resilience — after modification, they can be re-hardened for authentic specifications.
Application
Suitable for vehicles listed in product categories: CJ-2A, M38 and M38A1. Note: For civilian CJ models, additional holes in the cross member may be required. For MB/GPW, this part is suitable but is normally supplied without Ford stamp (unless specifically for Ford GPW restoration).
Installation notes
Mounting to rear cross member with bolts. Fit with curved side facing outward. Check that the mounting holes in your cross member correspond (MB/GPW use smaller holes than M-series, CJ models may require newly drilled holes). Mounting kit WOA1157K with bolts and fixings available separately.
Compatibility
Original Ford GPW part. Willys MB used bumperettes without F marking. M38 and M38A1 use the same bumperettes but with larger (1/2") mounting holes. CJ-2A, CJ-3A and CJ-3B did not use bumperettes as standard — fitting possible but requires cross member modification. This is a Ford-marked reproduction, therefore primarily intended for Ford GPW restorations or modifications where Ford specification is desired.
Historical context
Ford marked most GPW components with a stamped 'F' to distinguish warranty claims from Willys production. Early Ford GPWs (February–July 1942) also had the 'Ford' script on the rear panel. The bumperette drawing dates from 10 December 1941, shortly after GPW production commenced.
