Fast Flow Thermostat Elbow

Enhanced coolant circulation

Thermostat housing (coolant elbow) with fast flow design for improved cooling. This elbow forms the connection between cylinder head and upper radiator hose, in which the thermostat is mounted. Fast flow version offers increased flow compared to standard design.

Application

Engine coolant elbow

Type

Fast flow thermostat elbow

Function

Thermostat housing upper engine

Mounting

Attachment to cylinder head

Features

  • Fast flow design for increased coolant circulation
  • Thermostat housing with integrated coolant elbow
  • Connection between cylinder head and radiator hose
  • Optimised flow openings
  • Suitable for 160° or 180° thermostat (thermostat not included)

★ Note: different versions exist for L-134 (flathead) and F-134 (F-head) engines. Check your engine type before ordering.

Installation notes

Fit with new gasket and thermostat retainer. Ensure the thermostat remains correctly positioned during assembly — always use the metal thermostat retainer to hold the thermostat in place against the cylinder head. Tighten mounting bolts evenly to specification.

Compatibility

CRITICAL: L-134 flathead engines (1941-1952) and F-134 F-head engines (1950-1971) use DIFFERENT thermostat housings. L-head: cylinder head is flat, mounting directly onto head. F-head: cylinder head is tall, different mounting angle. Check which engine you have before ordering.

Historical context

The fast flow design is a later performance improvement on the original WWII design, intended for better cooling under demanding conditions or for modified engines.
