Ignition coil 6 volt

For jeeps with 6V ignition system

Ignition coil for 6 volt electrical systems. This coil converts the 6 volt battery voltage to the high voltage required for spark discharge at the spark plugs. Essential component of the ignition system.

Voltage

6 volt

Application

Ignition system

Type

Can-style coil

Part number

WOA7792

Features

  • Suitable for 6 volt ignition systems
  • Replacement part for original ignition coil
  • Can-style housing
  • With mounting bracket
  • Direct fit

★ Reliable replacement coil for classic 6V systems. Essential for proper operation of the ignition system.

Application

Suitable for military and civilian jeeps with 6 volt electrical system and L-134 (Go Devil) or F-134 engine. Note: NOT suitable for vehicles converted to 12 volt.

Installation notes

Mount the coil with the mounting bracket in the designated location. Connect the primary wire (low voltage) to the positive side of the coil and the distributor wire to the negative side. When fitting, check that you are using a 6 volt coil on a 6 volt system — using the wrong voltage specification will result in malfunction or damage.

Compatibility

Note: ONLY use a 6 volt coil on a 6 volt system. Vehicles converted to 12 volt require a 12 volt coil. Using a 6V coil on a 12V system or vice versa will result in poor performance or damage to the ignition system.

Historical context

The 6 volt ignition coil was standard on all WWII Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps, as well as early post-war civilian jeeps until the mid-1950s. Auto-Lite was a commonly used original manufacturer.
