Installation notes
The ammeter is mounted in series in the charging circuit. Ensure that the base nuts at both connection points are securely tightened before connecting the cables. Use lock washers on the cable terminals. Connect the battery cable to the passenger side and the generator/regulator cable to the driver's side of the gauge.
Compatibility
Note: Early Willys MB slat grille models used a 30/30 ampere meter with a different generator (GEG5001). Late production MB and GPW models with GEG5002 generator required the 50 ampere version. Check which generator type is fitted in your vehicle.
Historical context
The ammeter was a standard dashboard instrument on WWII jeeps and displayed the charging and discharging current of the 6-volt battery. With the engine running and the generator operating correctly, the gauge showed a positive reading; with the engine switched off or consumption too high, the needle swung to negative.
