★ Correct reproduction for late WWII production with rotary-type main switch according to TM 9-803 specifications.
Application
Suitable for Willys MB and Ford GPW built from mid-1944 (approximately June 1944) until end of production in 1945. This switch was introduced as a replacement for the earlier push-pull type main light switch. Vehicles with rotary switch no longer require a separate blackout driving light switch.
Installation notes
Ensure correct connection of terminals: BAT (ammeter/circuit breaker), BOD (blackout driving light), HT (headlights), S and SS (service/stop lights). The rotary switch eliminates the separate BO drive switch — this function is integrated into the rotary switch. Installation requires late-type wiring (A-2000C) with correct colour codes according to TM 9-803 Changes No.
Compatibility
NOT compatible with early 1941-1944 models using push-pull type light switches. Early vehicles have a separate blackout driving light switch on the left of the dashboard. When converting to rotary type, complete late wiring is required and the separate BO drive switch must be removed.
Historical context
In June 1944, Willys and Ford introduced the rotary-type main light switch as an improvement on the earlier push-pull system. The new switch combined multiple functions and simplified the operation of the lighting system during blackout operations.
