Ignition coil 6 volt

For 6 volt electrical systems

Replacement ignition coil for 6 volt ignition systems. This coil features an integrated resistor for simple connection and compatibility with the original electrical system. Essential component for reliable spark formation on 6 volt vehicles.

Voltage

6 volt

Type

Oil-filled type

Connection

With integrated resistor

Application

6 volt ignition system

Features

  • Suitable for 6 volt electrical systems
  • Internal resistor integrated
  • Compatible with standard distributor
  • Oil-filled construction for durability
  • Direct replacement for original type

★ Reliable replacement ignition coil for correct operation of the 6 volt ignition system. With integrated resistor for straightforward fitting.

Application

This ignition coil is suitable for vehicles with 6 volt electrical installation according to the categories in which the product appears: Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), CJ-2A (1946-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), M38, M38A1 and CJ-3B. Only suitable for models originally equipped with a 6 volt system.

Installation notes

The ignition coil has an integrated resistor, eliminating the need for an external ballast resistor. Mount the coil in the original mounting position. Connect the positive terminal to the wiring harness and the negative terminal to the distributor housing. The high-tension lead runs from the centre of the coil to the distributor cap. Observe correct polarity.

Compatibility

Only suitable for 6 volt electrical systems. DO NOT use in combination with 12 volt installations — this will cause damage and dangerous situations. Check before fitting whether your vehicle still has the original 6 volt system, many vehicles have been converted to 12 volt over the years.

Historical context

During WWII and the early post-war years, virtually all military jeeps and civilian Willys vehicles were equipped with 6 volt electrical systems. The ignition coil was a critical component for reliable engine starting and performance under all conditions.
