Dynamo 24 Volt 25A
Waterproof version for M201
Original type 24V dynamo as fitted by Hotchkiss on new M201 production from approximately 1960. This waterproof dynamo was part of the 24-volt NATO charging system that replaced the earlier 6-volt installation and, together with a suppressed ignition system, provided greater reliability for military radio applications.

Features
- 24-volt output voltage for NATO compatibility
- 25 Ampere charging capacity
- Waterproof construction for use in damp conditions
- Original type as fitted by Hotchkiss
- Suitable for use with corresponding 24V regulator
★ This dynamo was part of the transition to the 24-volt electrical system that Hotchkiss implemented in the M201 from 1960. The system used two 12V batteries in series and was specially adapted to meet the requirements of radio communication in the field.
Application
Specifically for Hotchkiss M201 vehicles with 24-volt electrical system, produced from mid-1960 to 1966. Early M201 production (1955-1960) still had a 6-volt system. Therefore always check the year of manufacture and voltage of your vehicle before ordering this dynamo.
Installation notes
Works together with corresponding 24V voltage regulator. Hotchkiss fitted new M201 production with a Paris-Rhône system, whilst ERGM often used Marchal systems when converting old 6V/12V jeeps to 24V. Pay attention to correct connection of the two 12V batteries in series for 24V operation.
Compatibility
NOT compatible with 6-volt M201 (1955-1960), Willys MB, Ford GPW or civilian Hotchkiss JH-101/JH-102 models which mostly had 6V or 12V. Only suitable for military M201 with 24V installation from approximately 1960. Check your regulator type: rectangular housing for Paris-Rhône, square housing for Marchal system.
Historical context
From 1960, Hotchkiss switched to 24-volt electrical systems to meet NATO standards and to power radio equipment. The system was more robust and reliable under war conditions than the original 6V installation of the early M201 and American wartime jeeps.
