These carbon brushes are intended for overhaul of starter motors on Willys MB, Ford GPW, CJ-2A, CJ-3A and CJ-3B vehicles converted to a 12 volt electrical system. Important for conversion of the original 6V system to 12V, or for maintenance of already converted vehicles.
Installation notes
Carbon brushes should be checked regularly for wear. Replace when brushes are shorter than 10 mm or when spring pressure is insufficient. During installation: ensure brushes move freely in their holders and make good contact with the commutator. During a 6V to 12V conversion, the field coil and other electrical components must also be modified.
Compatibility
These brushes are specific to 12 volt applications. For vehicles with the original 6 volt system, different brushes are required (with matching 6V field coil). Not interchangeable between 6V and 12V configurations. Suitable for overhaul of Autolite MZ-4113 starter motors (Willys MB, Ford GPW, CJ-2A) and MZ-4137 (CJ-3A) when converted to 12V.
