★ Quality reproduction of the original Autolite MZ-4113 starter motor, complete with Bendix drive and ready for installation. Reliable cold start performance for 6 volt systems.
Application
Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1942-1945), early CJ-2A (1945-1946) with 6 volt electrical system and L-134 Go Devil engine. Used in combination with 97-tooth flywheel and early bellhousing. Also suitable for early M201 Hotchkiss jeeps with 6 volt.
Installation notes
Mount on the two fixing points on the bellhousing with original bolts. Connect starter cable to starter housing. Check engine-to-chassis earth connection and battery cables (heavy cable required for 6V). Floor pedal mechanically activates the Bendix drive. Ensure free movement of starter shaft in bellhousing bearing.
Compatibility
Does NOT fit late CJ-3A, CJ-3B or M38 with 129-tooth flywheel and large-frame starter motor (MCH-6207/6215). Does NOT fit F-134 engine. Note: Both 10-tooth and 9-tooth Bendix were used with 97-tooth flywheel and are interchangeable. When converting to 12V, the 6V starter motor can continue to be used (faster cranking speed) but avoid prolonged cranking due to overheating.
Historical context
The Autolite MZ-4113 starter motor was standard equipment on all WWII Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps (1941-1945). This robust design with mechanical Bendix drive and floor pedal operation was reliable under all conditions and is an essential component of any authentic restoration.
