★ Reproduction part to original military specifications for WWII jeeps with radio interference suppression system.

Installation notes

The strap is fitted to the top of the grille guard (right side) and makes contact with the bonnet when closed. The electrical connection is established through the clamping action of the bonnet latch. Depending on production period and variant, this strap was fitted with split rivets or small screws with shakeproof washers.

Compatibility

This strap was fitted to WWII military jeeps as part of the radio interference suppression system. Early production MB/GPW vehicles (before serial number 288,835) did not have bond straps. Later production received the complete radio interference suppression system including these bonnet-to-grille connections. There is an identical strap for the left side (Bond strap No. 22).

Historical context

Ground bond straps were introduced on WWII jeeps from serial number 288,835 onwards as part of the radio interference suppression system. This system was necessary to reduce electromagnetic interference from the vehicle which could otherwise disrupt military radio communications.
