Installation notes
The strap is fitted with split rivets or flat head screws (depending on production year) through the grille welting at the top of the radiator guard. On the bonnet side, attachment via bolt to the rear crossmember of the bonnet. Ensure metal-to-metal contact on the underside of the bonnet — these areas were originally tinned and not painted.
Compatibility
Note: early CJ-2A models sometimes used surplus MB/GPW bonnets with mounting points for these straps, although civilian CJ-2As did not have bonding straps as standard. Check that your bonnet has the correct mounting points before ordering.
Historical context
The bond straps formed part of the Radio Interference Suppression System Type II from December 1943 onwards on late MB and GPW production, intended to suppress radio interference through complete electrical shielding of body panels.
