★ This harness is specific to the very earliest production versions such as slat-grille Willys MB and early 1942 Ford GPW vehicles which were not yet fitted with the later modifications such as wing blackout lamp and trailer coupling.

Application

For early production Willys MB and Ford GPW vehicles, including slat-grille versions and early 1942 GPW. Suitable for vehicles without wing-mounted blackout lamp and without trailer socket in the rear panel. All early production jeeps using this harness are fitted with a radio filter on the bulkhead beneath the dashboard and a push-pull headlight switch.

Installation notes

For fitting, the following connectors are required: 3 pieces 2-wire and 2 pieces 3-wire connections. The harness is preferably fitted before the body is placed on the chassis. The rubber (or later felt) grommets and the fixing clips are also required.

Compatibility

This A-2000A harness does NOT fit later jeeps with wing-mounted blackout lamp, trailer socket or rotary headlight switch. For mid-series production with blackout lamp and trailer socket but still with push-pull switch, the A-2000B or A-2000B-D variant is required. For late production with rotary switch, the A-2000C variant is needed.

Historical context

The first production jeeps had a simpler electrical configuration than later versions. From August 1942 (Willys MB serial number 163749), the wing-mounted blackout lamp was introduced, and from January 1943 (serial number 200678) came the trailer socket. The push-pull headlight switch remained in use until the end of 1943.
