★ High-quality reproduction to original specifications. This kit restores precise steering control and eliminates the typical wear on the bell crank pivot.
Installation notes
Remove the old pin by soaking it in penetrating oil for several hours. Then heat the pin as hot as possible and drive it out from below using a large hammer/drift. The new bearings replace the original bronze bushings and eliminate all play from the bell crank. The seals are fitted above and below the bearings to keep dirt out.
Compatibility
Note: this is the repair kit for the 3/4" shaft (early version where the ball faces downward). Late models use a 7/8" or 1-1/8" shaft with ball facing upward. Check your shaft diameter before ordering. Not compatible with later variants.
Historical context
The bell crank is the central pivot in the steering system that connects the drag link to the tie rods. Due to wartime use and years of wear, this is one of the most critical components causing play in steering behaviour.
