★ Authentic reproduction of the early Willys MB chassis number plate, manufactured to original specifications.
Application
Early Willys MB jeeps, produced before chassis number MB122xxx (January–March 1942). The very first MBs had a small plate without 'MB' prefix and used the letter 'I' instead of the digit '1'. From chassis number MB122xxx to approximately MB34xxxx, an oval plate was used. Later MBs (after July 1944, chassis MB34xxx+) received a larger square plate with 'Jeep' inscription.
Installation notes
The plate is fixed with two small rivets to the inside of the left chassis rail, directly behind the front bumper. This is the standard location for Willys MB chassis number plates. The serial number must be stamped by a specialist — this plate is supplied blank.
Compatibility
This early model is ONLY suitable for the very first Willys MB production (before MB122xxx). Do not use for later MBs with oval plate (MB122xxx–MB34xxxx) or late square plates (after MB34xxx). The Ford GPW did NOT use a plate but had the chassis number stamped directly into the upper left longitudinal member.
Historical context
Willys MB production started in 1941, and the very first vehicles received a small chassis number plate without 'MB' prefix. These were replaced in early 1942 by the oval version with full 'MB######' numbering.
