Application
This stencil set is suitable for marking WWII military jeeps that served with the 101st Airborne Division. The 101AB marking (101st Airborne) was used on vehicles assigned to various units within this division, including Parachute Infantry Regiments, Signal Company, Medical Company and Field Artillery. Applicable to Willys MB, Ford GPW and Hotchkiss M201 vehicles restored in this configuration.
Installation notes
Stencils are applied to cleaned, dry Olive Drab paint layer. Hood registration numbers were originally applied in blue drab at production, often overpainted in flat white in the field. Bumper markings were field-applied in flat white, 2" to 3" letter height. Hood star correctly positioned directly in front of windscreen (not centred on bonnet). Unit marking on bumper according to AR-850-5: division / regiment / company + vehicle number.
Compatibility
Suitable for Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Hotchkiss M201 and civilian models CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B if these are built up in military configuration. Please note: this set contains specifically 101st Airborne marking – not suitable for other divisions without modification. For other division markings, a different unit code is required.
Historical context
The 101st Airborne Division was one of the most iconic American airborne units during WWII, active in operations such as Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of Europe. Vehicles were marked according to Army Regulation AR-850-5 from August 1942, with division identification on bumpers and registration numbers on the bonnet.
