Bronze bushing for spring bolts

Front and rear axle

Bronze pivot bushing for leaf springs, designed for use with greasable spring bolts. This bushing is pressed into the leaf spring eye and forms the pivot point for attachment to the chassis. Essential component during restoration or maintenance of leaf spring suspension.

Material

Bronze (brass)

Dimensions

19 mm OD / 14.2 mm ID / 42.7 mm long

Position

Front and rear suspension

Type

Pivot eye bushing for greasable bolt

Features

  • Replacement bushing to original specification
  • Suitable for use with greasable spring bolt (384228)
  • Bronze construction according to original design
  • Pressed into the leaf spring eye
  • Requires regular greasing via spring bolt

★ Precision-manufactured bronze bushing that matches original suspension specifications. Bronze is the original material for this type of bushing and offers excellent wear resistance with proper maintenance.

Application

Suitable for early and late civilian jeeps with open shackle spring system. Fits both front and rear leaf springs. Used at the fixed pivot point of the leaf spring (chassis side), not in the movable shackles.

Installation notes

Bushing must be pressed into the leaf spring eye using a press — do not hammer in to prevent damage. Requires greasable spring bolt type 384228 with grease nipple. Regular greasing is essential for long service life and to prevent seizure.

Compatibility

NOT compatible with late rubber bushings (921055) — check which type of spring bolt is fitted to your vehicle. Early models use bronze bushings with greasable bolts, later models switched to rubber 'silent type' bushings with non-greasable bolts.

Historical context

Bronze bushings were standard in WWII and early post-war jeeps. Later replaced by rubber 'silent type' bushings for improved comfort, but bronze remains the choice for authentic restorations.
