Synchroniser Spring T84 Gearbox

Original type spring for synchroniser assembly - 2 pieces required per vehicle

Replacement synchroniser spring for the T84 3-speed transmission of the Willys MB and Ford GPW. This spring is fitted to the inside of the synchroniser hub and keeps the shift plates under constant tension for smooth shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear.

Application

T84 transmission synchroniser assembly

Vehicle

Willys MB / Ford GPW (1941-1945)

Quantity required

2 pieces per vehicle (one per side of centre hub)

Function

Keeps shift plates under tension in synchroniser

Features

  • Original type spring to WWII specification Fixed to inside of synchroniser centre hub Prevents shift plates from loosening during gear changes Essential for correct 2nd and 3rd gear synchronisation operation Replacement part during T84 transmission overhaul

★ This spring is a crucial component of the T84 synchroniser assembly. The T84 transmission only has synchronisation on 2nd and 3rd gear - 1st gear and reverse are not synchronised. The springs keep the shift plates under constant tension against the synchroniser hub, enabling smooth gear changes. During gearbox overhaul, both springs must be checked and replaced if necessary.
