Features

  • 9" × 1¾" standard dimension
  • 4 pieces required per vehicle (front and rear)
  • Identical drums for front and rear axle
  • Compatible with standard brake shoes
  • Machinable to maximum 9.060" diameter after reworking

★ Quality replacement for worn, out-of-round or damaged original drums. Essential component for a safe and reliable brake system.

Application

Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), CJ-2A (1945-1949), CJ-3A (1948-1953), M38 (1950-1952), CJ-3B (1953-1968). For both front and rear wheels — identical drum for all four wheels.

Installation notes

The hub must be mounted on the outside of the drum. On some hubs, the centre bore may need to be opened a few thousandths for correct fitting. Ensure the eccentrics are fully turned inward during installation. Have brake shoes and lining adjusted to drum diameter by a specialist brake shop if necessary.

Compatibility

Fits all flat-fender jeeps with 9" brake system. NOT compatible with later 11" brake systems (Station Wagon, Truck, FC models). NOT suitable for M38A1 which uses a different brake system. Note: early vs late emergency brake systems differ (external band vs internal expanding shoes on transfer case).

Historical context

The 9" drum brake system was used on all WWII jeeps and early civilian models until the early 1950s. These robust hydraulic drums were reliable under demanding military conditions and remained the standard for light jeeps for decades.
