Application

This tie rod end fits the steering tie rods of Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Hotchkiss M201, and civilian CJ-2A, CJ-3A and CJ-3B models. Please note: four tie rod ends are required per vehicle – two with right-hand thread and two with left-hand thread. Check which thread direction you require before ordering.

Installation notes

The tie rods have a different thread direction at both ends (left- and right-hand thread) so that the tie rod length can be easily adjusted by turning the rod. Before fitting, clean the thread in the tie rod tube thoroughly with a wire brush. After fitting, check the wheel alignment and toe-in setting.

Compatibility

Suitable for Willys MB, Ford GPW and Hotchkiss M201 military jeeps, as well as civilian CJ-2A, CJ-3A and CJ-3B models. This is a modern replacement version without original TP stamping. For concours restorations, an original stamped part may be desirable.

Historical context

The tie rod ends of the WWII jeep form part of the Ross steering system with bellcrank linkage. The combination of left- and right-hand threads on both sides allows simple toe-in adjustment without dismantling the tie rods.
