★ Accurate reproduction of the original steel data plates as applied by Willys-Overland from late 1943. This mid-production version replaced the earlier brass plates.
Application
This set is specifically intended for Willys MB vehicles built in the period from late 1943 to mid-1944. For this period, Willys used steel data plates instead of the earlier brass or the later zinc/aluminium variants. Willys part numbers: WO-A1330/31/11757.
Installation notes
The data plates are attached to the dashboard (or glove box lid on later vehicles) with special screws and pal nuts. On Willys, the frame-tags have black-filled text as original. Before fitting, verify that the period execution corresponds with the serial number of your vehicle.
Compatibility
Not suitable for early Willys MB (before late 1943) which had brass data plates, or late production (after mid-1944) which used other versions. Ford GPW vehicles had different data plates with divergent design and materials. If in doubt, consult the serial number of your vehicle.
Historical context
During the Second World War, Willys-Overland changed the material and design of the data plates several times. The steel mid-production variant was introduced in late 1943 as a result of material shortages and production changes during the war.
