★ Replica of the iconic WWII military tyre with NDT pattern. The flat, non-directional tread provides reliable traction on both paved roads and off-road terrain.
Application
This 600x16 tyre size was the standard size for CJ-2A (1945-1949) and CJ-3A (1949-1953) with 16-inch rims. Also fitted to CJ-3B models with 16-inch rims (1953-1968). The NDT tyre was also the original equipment on military trailers such as the Bantam T3-C and various utility trailers.
Installation notes
Requires 16 x 4.5 inch rim (standard CJ rim) or 16 x 5 inch rim. Inner tube with TR15 valve mandatory (larger 5/8" valve hole as on original rims). When using on split-rim combat wheels: note correct sidewall marking "BL" (beadlock). Outer and inner diameter: approx. 30 inches (713mm) inflated, section width approx. 7 inches (173mm).
Compatibility
NOTE: Suitable for civilian CJ models with 16-inch rims. DO NOT fit on 15-inch rims (became standard on CJ models from early 1960s). The NDT pattern has a square shoulder; this differs from the NDCC pattern (round shoulder) used on later military M38/M38A1 models. Check rim width: minimum 4.5 inches, maximum 5.5 inches for optimal fit.
Historical context
The NDT (Non-Directional Tread) pattern was the standard military tyre during WWII and was produced by Goodyear, Firestone and other manufacturers for the Willys MB, Ford GPW and civilian CJ models. The characteristic flat blocks provided equal traction in both directions — essential for military operations in varying terrain conditions.
