Inner Tube 600x16

With TR15 valve

Inner tube for 16" wheels in size 600x16. This inner tube is fitted with a TR15 valve with the correct thick (5/8") stem that fits the larger valve hole of vintage wheels. Suitable for use with NDT (Non-Directional Tread) tyres on classic jeep rims.

Size

600x16 (also suitable for 6.50x16)

Valve

TR15 straight valve (5/8" stem)

Application

16" wheels

Type

Heavy duty rubber inner tube

Features

  • TR15 valve with 5/8" thick stem for vintage wheels
  • Suitable for 600x16 and 6.50x16 tyres
  • Heavy rubber construction for durability
  • For use with tube-type tyres
  • Fits rims with larger valve hole

★ This inner tube has the correct TR15 valve that fits the larger valve hole of original 16" steel rims from the 1940s-'60s. Modern TR13 valves do not fit these wheels.

Installation notes

Please note: TR15 valve requires a 5/8" (16mm) valve hole in the rim. Modern rims have a smaller opening and are not compatible. Check before fitting that your rim has the correct valve hole. With split-rim combat wheels, a rubber flap must be used between tyre and rim.

Compatibility

Only suitable for wheels with 5/8" valve hole (vintage wheels from the 1940s-'60s). NOT compatible with modern tubeless rims or rims with smaller valve hole. Suitable for one-piece drop-centre rims and split-rim combat wheels. NOT for lock-ring or modern multi-piece rims without flap.

Historical context

The 600x16 size was the standard tyre size for American military jeeps during and after WWII. The TR15 valve was the common standard for all vehicle tyres until the introduction of tubeless tyres in the 1950s.
