Detent ball & spring shift rail poppet T84 gearbox - set

Original specification locking set for shift rails - 2 pieces required per T84

Complete set consisting of poppet ball and spring for the shift rail locking mechanism in the T84 gearbox. This detent combination ensures that gears remain correctly in position and prevents the box from jumping out of gear. Essential component during any T84 overhaul.

Application

T84 transmission shift rails (2 sets per vehicle)

Suitable for

Willys MB / Ford GPW (1941-1945)

Original number

635838 (ball) + 635837 (spring)

Set contents

1x poppet ball + 1x detent spring

Features

  • Detent ball and spring for shift rail locking in T84 gearbox 2 sets required per vehicle (one per shift rail: 1st/reverse and 2nd/3rd) Prevents gearbox from jumping out of gear during operation Always replace both sets simultaneously during T84 overhaul - corrosion is common Original US Army specification per TM 9-1803B

★ CAUTION: Check during installation that only ONE spring sits beneath the ball. Some mechanics previously used an additional half spring to prevent the box from jumping out of gear - this is incorrect and can cause stiff shifting.
