- Inline 6-cylinder L-head engine
- 230 cu in (3.8L) displacement
- 92 bhp at low engine speed

★ This reconditioned engine block is supplied on an exchange basis: your old engine must be returned. Suitable for restoration of WW2 Dodge vehicles to original military specifications.
Application
For Dodge WC-series 3/4-ton 4x4 vehicles (1941-1945) fitted with T214 engine. Also compatible with Dodge WC 6x6 models with T223 engine (identical long block, only ancillaries differ). The T214 and T215 engines share the same long block (part number 870228) — difference lies solely in ancillaries and type designation.
Installation notes
This long block includes internal components (cylinder head, valves, pistons, crankshaft) but no ancillaries. You must reuse your own generator, carburettor, starter motor, oil pump, distributor and manifolds or order separately. Note: T214 (3/4-ton) and T223 (6x6) initially used different generators — T214 originally had 25Amp Positive Ground, later upgraded to 40Amp Negative Ground like T223.
Compatibility
FITS: Dodge WC-series 3/4-ton 4x4 (SNL G-502, Model T-214), Dodge WC 6x6 lorries (T-223 engine). T214 and T215 long blocks are identical and interchangeable. T245 (M37, post-war) also uses similar reconditioned parts. DOES NOT FIT: without modifications to ancillaries in vehicles with different electrical systems (6V vs 12V, pos vs neg ground).
Historical context
The T214 engine served as the powerhouse of the Dodge 3/4-ton WC-series during WWII. Designed for reliability at low engine speeds (<2500 rpm) and high torque, this robust L-head six-cylinder proved itself in all theatres from Europe to the Pacific. Over 250,000 WC vehicles were produced between 1941 and 1945.
