Application
Dodge WC 3/4-ton series (1942-1945) fitted with Auto-Lite GEG5101A generator from engine number 154156 onwards. Also applicable to various other WWII military vehicles with the same Auto-Lite 6 volt generator (G-502, G-505, G-507 series). Not for early WC 1/2-ton with AL-GEW4806 or early 3/4-ton with AL-GEG5002 (before engine number 154156).
Installation notes
Check before fitting that the generator is correctly polarised (positive ground). Brushes must move freely in the brush holders. Commutator must be clean and smooth — if necessary lightly sand with fine abrasive paper. Test after fitting that the brush springs provide sufficient pressure. Polarise the generator after installation according to TM specifications.
Compatibility
FITS: Dodge WC 3/4-ton with Auto-Lite GEG5101A generator (after engine number 154156). DOES NOT FIT: Early WC 1/2-ton with AL-GEW4806, early 3/4-ton with AL-GEG5002 (before engine number 154156). Note: Command Cars and Carryalls sometimes received 12 volt systems — check voltage before ordering.
Historical context
Auto-Lite was a major supplier of electrical components for U.S. military vehicles during WWII. The GEG5101A generator produced 25 amperes and was fitted to later production Dodge WC 3/4-ton trucks which were deployed in large numbers from North Africa to the Pacific.
