Application

Suitable for Dodge 230 CID (3.8L) flathead inline-six T214 engines as used in the 3/4-ton 4x4 Dodge WC-series lorries (1942-1945). Also applicable to T215 engines which are mechanically identical to the T214.

Installation notes

Before installation, verify that the oversize of the reground crankshaft matches the supplied bearings. Measure all main and conrod bearing clearances according to TM specifications (standard 0.001"-0.003"). Ensure all oil passages are thoroughly cleaned and blown through. Pay attention to correct axial endplay of the thrust bearing.

Compatibility

Note: T214 engines may have either early or late rear main seal configuration. Check your block specification. This crankshaft is NOT compatible with T223 (6x6) or T245 (M37) engines without modification of oil pump and accessories. Not suitable for T112 (217.7 CID) or other smaller Dodge flathead engines.

Historical context

The Dodge T214 engine was the beating heart of over 250,000 3/4-ton WC-series lorries built during WWII. This robust 230 cubic inch flathead inline-six produced 92 bhp and was designed for high torque at low rpm—reliable enough to carry the Allied victory.
