★ NOS-quality cylinder head gasket — essential component for reliable sealing during engine maintenance or overhaul of the 230ci Dodge engine.

Application

This head gasket is designed for the Dodge T214 engine of 230 cubic inches (3.8 litres) as fitted to the 3/4-ton WC-series from mid-1941. The T214 was a 6-cylinder L-head (side-valve) engine producing 92 bhp that was used in approximately 255,000 Dodge military vehicles during WWII, including all WC51 to WC64 models.

Installation notes

During installation, torque the cylinder head bolts to factory specification: 65-70 ft-lbs for cap screws, 52-57 ft-lbs for stud nuts. It is recommended to apply torque in three stages (e.g. 30-50-65 lbs) following the correct sequence. Use a copper-spray gasket sealer if desired. After engine warm-up, check torque and re-torque if necessary.

Compatibility

Specific to the T214 engine with 230ci displacement. Not compatible with the smaller T207 engine (218ci) or the later T245 (M37) engine without modifications. The T214 and T215 engines use the same engine block (part number 870228) and therefore the same head gasket. Please note: this concerns the head gasket only — not suitable as a complete gasket set.

Historical context

The Dodge T214 engine was the reliable power source for more than a quarter million military vehicles during WWII. This robust 6-cylinder flathead produced 92 bhp at 3200 rpm and was manufactured from August 1941 until 1945 without major changes in all 3/4-ton and 1½-ton Dodge military vehicles.
