Application

Fits all vehicles with Dana Spicer Model 18 transfer case: CJ-2A (1946-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), CJ-3B (1953-1964), M38 (1950-1952) and M38A1 (1952-1966). Also suitable for Willys Truck and Station Wagon models (1946-1964) with Dana 18 transfer case.

Installation notes

Thoroughly clean the gasket surface of old gasket residue and oil. Apply a thin layer of Permatex gasket sealant to both sides of the gasket for optimal sealing. Do not use adhesive — let the gasket sealant hold the gasket in place. Tighten bolts in a cross pattern according to specifications to ensure even pressure distribution.

Compatibility

This gasket fits Dana Spicer Model 18 transfer cases from 1941-1971. NOTE: not suitable for Dana Model 20 or Dana 300 transfer cases used in later models. Check which transfer case is fitted to your vehicle before ordering.

Historical context

The Dana Spicer Model 18 was the standard transfer case in virtually all Willys military and civilian jeeps from 1941 until the early 1970s. This robust two-speed transfer case with optional PTO (power take-off) drive was originally developed for the MB/GPW and remained the reliable power distributor between front and rear axle for decades.
